Companies will continue to capture new programs based on their track record of proven performance, first-class engineering, acceptable pricing, and their ability to deliver the requisite capabilities. Likewise, companies can no longer afford to be successful on their own merits as evidenced by the repeated necessity to partner with multiple businesses on every new proposal.
Therefore, now is not the time for limited thinking where industry works in isolation away from their competition or considers the evolving Mission Engineering discipline as the defining measure of a program’s ability to capture.
Teaching Mission Engineering principles and encouraging its practice is not about gaining or giving away a competitive advantage. It is about an opportunity for setting the pace, raising the bar, inspiring cooperation, improving and leveraging internal and external corporate
relationships and resources, reinvigorating the focus on the warfighter, using budding new technologies to model and characterize a mission, and setting a progressive standard of doing business across the DOD.
